The girl who lives across the landing from me has this problem with taking her trash to the dumpster, she takes it and sets it on our landing and leaves it there for at least a week (both Amy and Dana can vouch for this fact). Yes, our dumpsters are a bit of a hike but it has been gorgeous out plus she must not work since her car is always there so come on! It drives me nuts! It smells and it's just gross. So I normally kick it over so it directly blocks her door but she must just step over it. When Amy was here Rob put a very large board on her door thinking she would get the hint but no such luck. Well this last week she had 2 bags sitting out there for over a week and it looks as though an animal got into it and there was crumbs and stuff all over the landing. Think she could sweep them up? Of course not! So being the 2 year old that I am I just swept them all right in front of her door. I want to complain to management but she will know it's me since we are the only 2 on this level. And she knows where I live and what car I drive. It's just so gross and it's driving me crazy! I mean how lazy can you be?!
Enough of that though. This weekend I laid low since I didn't get home before 10 a single night last week. It was so nice not to do anything for a change! I finally got my new furniture and it looks very nice. It does consume my entire room but whatever. Then I got free tickets to the Mariner's game for next weekend so Dana is going to be my date. Other than that it is pretty much the same old same old.

Maybe you could try the nice/not really nice approach... the next time you are taking your trash out, knock on her door and ask if there is any you can take out for her since she is obviously incapable of doing it herself. She might get the hint.
I love your idea laura!!!! She doesn't seem to smart though....or you could dump it out in front of her door
You could leave her a note and tack it to her door. That is pretty nasty.
I would approach the neighbor and just ask if she could not leave her trash outside for extended periods of time. If she doesn't do anything about it, I would then complain.
