3 wks

Logan will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. So far he is a pretty good baby but is starting to fuss and scream a bit more. He still likes to sleep all day and stay awake all night which is wearing on me.

His auntie Amy came to visit last week. It was a pretty mellow visit. We did venture out for lunch and to the mall one day. Of course Logan slept the entire time we were out.

We had him circumsized today. It was painful to watch! And he was not a happy camper. We went back and forth about if to do it. Ultimately I left the decision up to Craig and he decided to do it. On the plus side Logan weighed in at 8 lb 11 oz.

My mom is comming to visit this week. It will be nice to see her and for her to meet Logan. This again will likely be a quiet visit.

Next week will be filled with dr appts. He has his 1 month check-up and we have the follow-up with the cardiologist for an echo. Keep your fingers crossed that this one looks good.

Newborn photos

We had newborn photos taken of Logan when he was 3 days old. I got the cd of them yesterday and they turned out super cute. Unfortunately, the ones of the 3 of us aren't very good but oh well. I'm having a hard time uploading them so here are a couple to get you started.

Week 1

Our first week with logan has gone pretty well. He's a pretty good baby except he likes to sleep all day and stay up all night. So far he's not much of a crier but the last few nights his crying has gotten a little worse. He doesn't like to quiet down for daddy but does pretty good for mommy. :) He hs gotten better sleeping in his crib but wakes up to eat about every 2 hrs. He had dropped down to 6lb 10oz last thursday but by monday he was back up to 7lb 5oz. His cord stump fell off today. He likes to poop every time he eats and does so with such force that you can hear it in the next room. He's so little he swims in all his clothes but I figure at least that way they will fit him a little longer. :)

I'm doing ok with the lack of sleep. I don't do very good "sleeping when baby sleeps." I'm ready for my old body back but keep reminding myself that it's only been a week and will take time.

Here's a couple pictures. They were taken with my phone so not the greatest. I need to load the ones from the camera to the other computer and once I do will post some.

Logan Steven Harris

Logan arrived Feb 8. 2011 at 4:10 pm.
7 lb 2 oz
19 1/4 in
10 fingers, 10 toes.

I saw my dr monday afternoon and was already 5cm and 100% effaced so he figured my labor would go quickly. I got to the hospital around 12 am 2/8. They had to do some bloodwork before they started the pitocin so that finally got started around 2:30 or 3 am. I started contracting regularly but no progress otherwise. By 8:30 they had increased to pitocin from 1 to 9 but still not much happening. My dr wasn't there yet so one of his collegues came in and broke my water which brought me to 6cm and increased the frequency and intensity of the contractions. My contractions continued to increase but no further dilation. Somewhere in there they gave me some blood product for my bleeding since my numbers had dropped yet again. I had a shot of phetnol somewhere in there but it didn't touch my pain. Around 11 I decided I needed an epidural. Well the anestiologist was being a butt and refused to give me one because of my bleeding issues and risk of complications. They had to call my hematologist and he had to send a letter sating it would be fine and I had to sign some special release (at that point I think I would have signed anything). They gave me another shot of phetnol but again nothing. I finally got an epidural 4 hrs later around 3, I was not a happy camper. IN the meantime they had put my in the tub to try to get my body to relax some. My whole body was shaking like crazy, I could barely stand, my contractions were coming so hard and fast that it wasn't allowing me to dilate further (was stuck at 7 I think). After I got the epidural I went pretty quickly from 7cm to 9.5cm. Once I started feeling pressure they had me start pushing and 20-25 min later there he was. He came out with his arm over his neck so was blue, instead of Craig getting to cut the cord the dr had to do it and they wisked him off. He started breathing pretty quick and all is good there.

We came home yesterday around 1. So far it's been tiring but pretty awesome. Saw the pediatrition today and Logan is down to 6 lb 10 oz.

Anyhow, here are a few pics. :)

No baby yet.

No baby yet. I've done everything to try to get him out but I draw the line at castor oil. That just sounds gross. I'm sure he's stubborn like his mother and father and will come when he wants.

My MIL is driving me crazy! She emails me multiple times a day asking if anything is happening. Lady, you will be one of the 1st to know if there is. She watches my nieces on tues and emailed me my FIL cell and my SIL home number in case anything happened (her cell doesnt work at my SIL house). Well, pretty sure I have those and if I didnt don't you think your son does! I know she's just excited but it's getting on my nerves.

I will try to get you all some new belly pics but that would require getting the camera out, hooking it to the computer, etc etc. I promise at the very least we will take one before we go to the hospital.

Count down...38 wks

I saw the dr (not my normal doc) last thur and I was 3cm and 90% effaced. She got all excited and thought for sure I would deliver over the weekend. NO such luck. I saw my regular dr on monday and I'm hanging out in the same spot. So far no contractions that I notice, just crampy with low back pain. He thinks I'll prob go into labor soon and if not he'll strip my membranes monday and induce me late monday night. That means at latest nugget should make an apperance by tuesday! Crazy! I think Craig is more freaked out than me. He is going to induce me because with my blood stuff he wants to be the one who delivers me and he goes out of town next wed and with my cervix looking how it looks...

So stay tuned and the next post will hopefullly be a birth story!
